Looking at what happens between us
Difficulties rarely sit with one person alone. Systemic family therapy works with the whole picture, the relationships, histories and everyday dynamics that shape how a family relates. Rather than looking for someone to fix or blame, we look at what happens between you.
Working together, we make sense of the patterns that may be keeping you stuck and draw on the strengths your family already holds. From there, we find new ways of relating, listening and understanding one another so that connection can grow and your family feels more able to face what lies ahead together.
A systemic way of working
Family therapy brings together the people who matter to one another. Rather than focusing on a single “problem” located in one person, we explore the wider context and the multiple perspectives within a family. We consider what shapes identity, including attachment and early life, culture, gender and sexuality, as well as the communication patterns that can get in the way of feeling close and secure.
I'm also mindful of how neurodiversity might shape the way each family member relates to and connects with the world, and I work in ways that respect those differences.
My role is to hold a space where every voice can be heard without judgement, and where a family can begin to understand and respond to one another differently.
Family therapy may help when…
- A child, young person or adult in the family is struggling emotionally, or living with a mental or physical health difficulty
- Your family is facing loss, separation, illness or divorce
- You're navigating a major transition such as a new family structure, adolescence, leaving home, or changes in later life
- Relationships between family members need rebuilding, including around boundaries
- Conflict is escalating and hard to break out of
- You want to understand one another more deeply and strengthen your bonds
"We meet at a pace that feels manageable, with everyone's wellbeing held in mind."
Who attends and how long we work together are agreed collaboratively. Sessions are usually held at the same time each week, which gives our work a steady, dependable rhythm.
Bring your family into the conversation
If your family is finding things hard right now, I'd be glad to hear from you. A first conversation is a chance to talk things through and see if we feel like the right fit.
You can book a free 15-minute phone call or arrange an initial session to get started. We'll talk through fees together. I have a small number of lower-cost spaces, so please do ask.
